Access Control
Qld’s Most Trusted Access Control Systems
Technological advancements have vastly impacted society, and the security industry is no exception. Upgrading your business, facility or home to an electronic access control system allows you to have complete control and protection over who and what can enter your premises at all times.
An access control system is an electronic security system that allows you to control who can enter restricted areas around and inside a building. Whoever is in charge of the building’s security would provide authorised personnel with keycards, keypad PINs or a combination of the two to allow access.
At John Barnes, we have a team committed to designing, supplying and installing the latest and greatest electronic security solutions. These include but are not limited to:
- EKA systems (electronic key heads)
- Wireless access control systems
- Wireless security alarm systems
- Small business access control systems
- CCTV & security cameras

The Benefits Of Access Control
Investing in an access control system has many benefits, including:
- Asset protection – from both internal and external theft
- 24/7 Home and Workplace Safety monitoring
- Instant security alerts to your smartphone
- Conflict resolution – security cameras and access control systems can provide valuable evidence
- Extra protection of restricted and vulnerable areas

The 3 Types Of Access Control
Discretionary Access Control Systems (DAC)
Recommended for smaller businesses as it’s the most flexible and easy to use option. It allows the owner to decide and control the number of people who can access a specific area. Each access control point will have a list of authorised users. So, the system will check its specifications and either allow or deny entry.
Mandatory Access Control (MAC)
For facilities that require the strictest and most secure access control. Only owners and select personnel can access the system. The system administrator presets the access control settings, which can only be edited or removed with their permission.
Role-Based Access Control (RBAC)
Most popular with facilities and businesses with multiple departments. Instead of assigning permissions to each user like a MAC system, an RBAC allows access based on a specific job title. As a result, it cuts down on setup time and can be simple to update.
